carl-schlyterIn an interview given this week to the EU reporter, Carl Schlyter, the Honorary President of the Animal Welfare Intergroup has highlighted  animal welfare issues  for the next parliamentary term like the need of better enforcing existing legislation,  improving the welfare of farm animals  and reducing the number of animals used in research and safety testing.

As animal welfare is not a high status issue in the European Parliament  and in the election campaigns he made it clear that candidates need to be elected who truely engage in animal welfare. They will not forget to work for this cause during the five years of their mandate.
