IMG_7863 (3)On Tuesday 4th March, Vice-President Andrea Zanoni MEP, the well-known Italian TV Journalist, Edoardo Stoppa and some activists have gathered in front of the European Parliament to denounce the use of live decoys and fowling in Italy. This is in support of a campaign of several NGOs like LAV, LIPU, OIPA and the WWF who are fighting against these illegal practices in Italy.

Following the continuous breaches of the Directive 2009/147/EC on the conservation of wild birds, the European Commission has recently sent a letter of formal notice to the Italian government concerning the poaching of birds in several parts of the peninsula.

Andrea Zanoni said- “this is a clear answer to all those who still continue to ignore the law and it censures the inertia of some local authorities who fail to consistently react against poachers”.  On his side Mr Zanoni will continue to denounce violations of the EU law and will follow closely the related developments .
