One single PlanetFrom 29 June – 2 July 2015, AW-Intergroup Vice-President Anja Hazekamp MEP (GUE/NGL, NL) hosted an exhibition in the European Parliament’s Forum Bar Area, which focused on the documentary ‘One Single Planet’ by Robert van Tellingen and Henk Harding.

One Single Planet which was co-produced by the Nicolas G. Pierson Foundation and the Dutch Party for Animals addresses the four most pressing sustainability issues currently threatening our planet, more specifically, biodiversity, food safety, water and zoonoses. The documentary does not only offer a comprehensive overview of the current threats, it also offers solutions to preserve the earth’s liveability for the generations to come.

Anja Hazekamp said in her introductory speech: “To maintain a liveable planet, we should tackle climate change and environmental pollution now! Western overconsumption exceeds our planet’s capacities and aggravates circumstances for people and animals living in poor countries. These people and animals will be affected first and foremost, not only by the depletion of our natural resources and by land grabbing, but also by droughts and flooding.
