Today, the European Parliament will vote on the Draft General Budget of the European Union for the financial year 2016 – all sections and on the linked report by José Manuel Fernandes, Gérard Deprez on the Council position on the draft general budget of the European Union for the financial year 2016.

All MEPs can contribute to stop EU funding for bulls that are used in bull fighting, a practice that a majority of European citizens condemn by voting in favour of amendments in two separate dossiers:

  1.  Vote in Plenary on the draft general budget of the European Union for the financial year 2016

  Please support budgetary amendment 1437

 which states that basic payment scheme appropriations shall not be used for supporting breeding or rearing of bulls used for bullfighting activities.

   2. Vote in Plenary on the report by José Manuel Fernandes, Gérard Deprez on the Council position on the draft general budget of the European Union for the financial year 2016.

 Please support amendment 22

 Here is the wording:

 28b. Reiterates that CAP appropriations or any other appropriations from the budget should not be used for the financing of lethal bullfighting activities; recalls that such funding is a clear violation of the European Convention for the Protection of Animals Kept for Farming Purposes (Council Directive 98/58/EC);

 The EP Intergroup on the Welfare and Conservation of Animals thanks all MEPs for their support.
