On 28 August 2021, Pen Farthing, a former Royal Marines commando and founder of Nowzad dogs charity evacuated 200 cats and dogs from Afghanistan. The Working Group on Companion Animals wrote him a letter of congratulation for his determination and selfless compassion in rescuing animals in need.
